Montevideo

Hey yall!

This week I moved to Montevideo! It is so much different here. I feel like I am in a big city in the US. It seriously feels like a different mission and it has been an adjustment. The people here are super busy and it's been hard getting to know everyone. I miss my good old country friends, but it is good here in the city too!

Lots of people here speak English. We are teaching a lady from the Philippines and we teach her in English. It was actually so hard to teach in English, but it was cool. We also do all of our finding in parks and plazas which is different from knocking doors. There are always lots of people outside so it's not hard to find people to talk to. We also share a ward with two other hermanas which is fun because we eat lunch together everyday. Sorry, I don't have too much time but I know God loves us and there are miracles in everyday!

I hope yall have a great week!

Transfers

Hey yall!

I don't have much time to write today, but I am getting transferred to Montevideo...the big city! I have been out in the country my whole mission so it will be a big change. But, I'm going to be ward sharing with my old comp Hermana Payne so I'm so excited!

I am sad to leave San Fernando. I have loved my time here and I have met some of the best people. I feel like I have truly come to know my Savior while I have been here.  When I first got here I went through some lows, but I am thankful for those experiences because I have learned how to rely on the Savior. I have also experienced some of the best moments and made some of the best friends! I will forever remember the people I met here!

This week:

- we had intercambios!

- my fav family from bama came to our ward!

- our friend Luz bore her testimony in church and her grandma came!

- one of our members has been trying to give us a reference for a while but her friend has always canceled. we kept encouraging her to have faith in him and it finally worked out this week! he came to church too.

- our friend, German, (who is just waiting to get married so he can get baptized) came with us to a few charlas and his testimony was so good!

- one of our friends gave me a new mate

- said goodbye to all my friends in San Fernando

- I heard 10,000 hours by Dan and Shay today....so crazy!

 Have a great week!

Happy Easter

Hey yall!

Happy Easter! Holy Week brought so many miracles. Here's a recap from our week:

- A member in our ward gave us a phone book last week and so one night we decided to randomly call numbers in the phone book. It was fun because everyone was answering and they were so confused how we had their number and name. Hahaha! We called one number and talked to a couple named Miguel and Maria. We sceduled a day to have a lesson with them. This week we went to their house for the lesson and met them. They are 86 and 85 years old and love to tell us their age every chance they get! We were able to meet with them a couple of times this week. They have a car (it's really scary to think about them driving) but they drove to church on Sunday and loved it!!!

- One morning we were knocking doors near the church and found a young couple, Michael and Micaela! They are so cool! We were able to give them a tour of the church, they came to english class, and to church on Sunday! They are my favs!

- Our friend Luz accepted a date to be baptized! It has been so cool to see her open up to us and accept the gospel. She is so happy!

- My companion and I planned an Easter activity for the ward. We played Bingo, had an easter egg hunt and scavenger hunt. We made an invitation and advertised for an easter egg hunt. Then, we realized easter egg hunts aren't a thing in Uruguay and you can't buy plastic eggs....we didnt want to have false advertising so we bought chocolate eggs and hid them in the church. The hunt was supposed to be for the kids, but by the end the youth and adults were all looking for eggs. It got a little intense, to say the least.

- One of our members made us an asado for easter! It was so good!

- We got to hold bunnies that a member had on Easter and I named one Dixie Lee! Shoutout!!!

- And we also had zone conference this week!

I had to give a talk on sunday about Jesus, the best topic! I love this part of the "Living Christ", "He was arrested and condemned on spurious charges, convicted to satisfy a mob, and sentenced to die on Calvary’s cross. He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind. His was a great vicarious gift in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth." Christ lives, He is our Savior, He gave his life for us and He loves us!!

Have a great week,

vaca

Hey yall!

This week we had the best vacation on the mission....general conference! It was so good and uplifting to hear the prophet speak. Go check out his talk!

This week we were on the finding grind and we talked to SO many people. We tried to talk to everyone we passed in the streets, however everyone seemed to be very busy or not interested. BUT, we were still able to see some miracles:

- We had a noche de hogar with a family in our ward and Pablo and Paula! They are a part member family we are teaching. It was chaotic with 5 little kids running around, but it was so fun!

- Our new friend, Luz, came to church to watch general conference and we were able to have several lessons with her this week. Her dad is a member that is inactive and her aunt is very active in our ward!

- We made a #iluminalapascua calendar because our bishop had the idea but wanted us to execute it. It was fun and needless to say the bishop was so proud!

- We are tight with the owner of our favorite bakery and this week I was telling him how much I liked the pastries when they were warm, so he put them back in the oven for us...the best things ever!

Happy Holy Week! I hope yall can find ways to keep Christ the center of your Easter celebration. All of the things we have are because of Him! Happy Easter!
