Thanksgiving

Hey yall!

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!  Here are some highlights from my week:

- We had a thanksgiving lunch this week with all of the hermanas in my zone! It was fun and Hermana Fowler made mac n cheese, so of course it was good!

- Juan Silva called us this week and told us that he had to go to Montevideo last weekend, but wanted to be baptized. He got baptized on Friday!

- We had a ward pizza party. There were about 15 giant pizzas!

- I got to go to Brazil for exchanges this week and it was a much needed vacation! Hermana Maxwell and I had the best time. We were in this small town in Brazil and it was so country...it reminded me of home. I didn't understand anything that was going on because they speak portuguese so that was also nice.

- South Carolina beat Clemson!

- Uruguay plays Portugal today and I think my zone is going to watch it!

God loves you! Have a great week!

Week of Unfortunate Events

 Hola!

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving week! It doesn't feel like November here because it is super hot. The heat here is different than I am used to! It's not humid, its more of a dry heat. Also, with the heat there have been more bugs and I have been getting so many bug bites at night. I have over 40 bites now.

This week was pretty hard....a week of unfortunate events. With the heat no one has been outside during the day, so finding has been difficult. We also were supposed to have the baptism for our friend Juan Silva on Saturday, but we have not able to get in contact with him, so we had to cancel it. We still don't know what happened to him, because he hasn't been at his house. We hope he is okay! Then on Sunday our other friend, Juan Mesquita, didn't come to church so we will probably postpone his baptism. Also, when we got to church on Sunday the baptismal font had overflowed from when we filled it up on Saturday, thinking we would have a baptism. Hahaha! Luckily it didn't make too big of a mess and we got it cleaned up before church started! It made me laugh because it summed up our week!

Although sometimes life is hard, I am trying to remember we have so much to be grateful for. I love the quote, "There is one thing we can do to make life sweeter, more joyful, even glorious. We can be grateful!" Even though this week was hard, I am grateful to be serving here in Uruguay, I am grateful for the opportunity to share the gospel and I am grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Countdown till the World Cup

Hey yall!

I hope yall are doing well. Only 10 more days until Uruguay plays in the World Cup!!! Here are some highlights from this week:

- We had a lot of lessons with members this week, asking for references. One member, Estela, took us to meet her friend. When we got to the house Estela said, '' I have a gift for you and brought some of my friends, can we chat for a minute?'' After we sat down in her friend's house, she said '' here is my gift for you''  and handed her a Book of Mormon. We taught her friend a little about the plan God has for each of his children. Even though she doesn't want to meet with us again, it was so cool to see Estela share her love for the gospel with her friend. Estela is such a good missionary!

- We have been working with an inactive member and she's been coming to church. We have been trying to work with her family too. This week her daughter accepted the invitation to be baptized. When we asked her how she felt about baptism she said, "It just makes me feel so happy!" It was so cute!

- Juan Silva passed his baptismal interview and is going to get baptized Saturday!

- We got a reference from a member for an inactive member. When we went to visit her, we found her daughter who is 17. She was super nice and we are hoping to start teaching her.

- We had lunch on Sunday with Sandra and Mirtha. They are my favorite! They talk so much but are so funny. We ate so much and then that night we went to our bishop's house and he gave us asado. I was so full.

I read a talk this morning about the character of Christ and I loved this quote '' Jesus, who suffered the most, has the most compassion for all of us who suffer so much less.'' The story of Jesus would not be the same if it was not for his character. He was rejected, hated, and mocked yet He still loved everyone. No matter what He was going through He looked for a way to turn out to help someone in need. Christ is the best example!

I hope yall have a great week!

English

 Hola yall!

goodbye to Hermana Ferre
On Tuesday of this week Hermana Ferre left for her new area and I got a new companion. My new companion is Hermana Sanchez and she is from Uruguay! It has been a hard week adjusting to a new companion, but it's going to be a good transfer! Hermana Sanchez works so hard and is teaching me so much. Our zone/stake is trying something called a "Noche Blanco" this transfer. This week we are all going to visit our members and get referrals. Then we are going to teach their friends and on December 10 everyone in the stake is going to get baptized in the same program. I am excited to see what will happen!

This week I got to teach a 14 year old English. It wasn't much teaching because her English was perfect, but it was fun!

After lunch with a member on Saturday we were supposed to have a lesson with a recent convert, when we got to the church we got a text that the lesson was cancelled. We decided to go visit an amigo with the member, but they weren't home. On the way back to the church we drove past an inactive member's house that our ward has been working hard with to help come back to church. The member asked if we wanted to visit her so we knocked on the door and she was home! We had a great visit with her and the member was so kind to her, but she didn't agree to come to church. The member told us she would fast for her and on Sunday she came to church! It was a miracle and built my testimony on fasting and prayer. I know that God hears and answers our prayers! I love this quote by President Monson, "Our Heavenly Father does answer prayers in HIS own way and in HIS own time." Sometimes we have different timing and plans than God, but His plan is greater than ours!

Hello to Hermana Sanchez

Have a great week!
