half way

Hola!

I hope yall are doing well! It's crazy to think that I am halfway done with my mission. Time has flown by, it feels like I just got here. I have come to love Uruguay and the people here, learned so much about myself, and most importantly grown closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Everyday on the mission has been so different. I have experienced some of the happiest times, but also some of the hardest times. I'm not going to lie, at the beginning it was hard. I felt alone. I couldn't communicate with the people and had struggles with comps. I had always heard the mission was hard, but wasn't expecting it to be hard in the way it was. However, I am grateful for those transfers because they have allowed me to grow and become closer to my Savior. I have learned the Lord never leaves us alone. He is always there for us. I have learned that there are miracles in every day, IF we have the perspective to find them and align our will with His will. As I have learned to trust in Him I have been able to find pure joy in the work. I have watched people leave behind their old lives to accept the gospel. I have seen people come to find joy in their lives through Christ. I have also seen many people reject the gospel, but I know it's all in God's hands. Sharing the Savior's love with people everyday has strengthened my testimony. I have come to love missionary work and am so happy that I get to serve the Lord in Uruguay for 9 more months!

This week:

- We had intercambios this week! I went to Sayago for the day.

- We have seen so much progress with a part member family we are teaching! We found them while I was buying my mate...miracles! They are my favs!

- We have dropped our friends / our friends have dropped us. So we are currently on the finding grind...basically starting fresh.

- Found a vending machine that gives you hot water for your mate!

¡Vamos arriba Uruguay!

Have a great week!

Brackets

Hey yall!

I hope everyone had a great week and is enjoying March Madness! I got a new companion a couple of weeks ago. My new comp is Hermana Barlow and she is from Utah. It has been a good time with her.

Hma. Barlow's first day in Uruguay

This week our friend Jorge got baptized! It was such a special day. We have been teaching him for a little over 3 months and it has been such a testimony builder to see him grow in the gospel. I remember the first lesson we had with him, when he refused to close his eyes during the prayer. And now he knows God is his Heavenly Father and has followed the example of Christ. His conversion has taught me anyone can change. He has been through a lot in the last couple of months, but has learned the importance of trusting in the Lord. He is a witness that the gospel truly does help us find happiness and peace during difficult times. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to see him get baptized.

Other highlights (pics):

- I got a new mate and termal! I am trying to help Hermana Barlow like mate, hahaha!

- We filled out march madness brackets...comp bonding

- We matched for St. Patty's day

- Our friend Melanie has been coming with us to lessons and is now thinking/praying about going on a mission!

- There are more cows in Uruguay than people

My mission president shared this advice with me last week "In the end it all works out...if it hasn't worked out, then it's not the end." I love this because God has His plan and His timing. It will work out the way HE wants. We just have to hang in there and trust in Him!

Have a great week!

Mosquitos

Hey yall!

Last pday we had an hermanas pday in Montevideo with all of the hermanas and it was so fun! Then, on Tuesday and Wednesday Hermana Payne and I went back to Montevideo to work on our residency. Both days we did a little exploring and ate lunch in the city. Needless to say we enjoyed our vacation in the big city, it was so pretty.

One day this week there was an infestation of mosquitoes. We were knocking doors that evening and nobody would talk to us because there were so many mosquitos...so crazy. I ended up with over 200 bug bites.

Also, two of our friends that came to church bore their testimonies! When they got up, I was a little worried about what they would say, but they were so good! They testified of what they knew and the spirit was strong!

We got transfer news and Hermana Payne is leaving:( It is so sad. We have had way too much fun and it feels so weird that we aren't staying together, kind of like the leaving college feeling.

I am so thankful for this transfer and all that I learned. This transfer I have to come to really love being a missionary. The changes that I have seen in our friends have shown me how much the gospel blesses lives. "Ultimate happiness, true peace, and anything even remotely close to scriptural joy are found first, foremost, and forever in living the gospel of Jesus Christ."

Have an awesome week!
