The Spirit of Christmas

Hey yall!

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas! Christmas is way different here, the big celebration is on Christmas Eve and is called Noche Buena. Our president gave us permission to stay out until 12:30 on Christmas Eve to celebrate! On Christmas Eve night we went to a member's house. At around 10:30pm we ate a huge dinner that consisted of all-you-can-eat meat. Then, at midnight we went outside and everyone was shooting off fireworks to start Christmas. Christmas day was a normal day in the mission, but we had a Christmas church service.

The rest of my week was good! Here are the highlights:

- We found a few families to teach! One of the families we were able to meet with 3 times this week and had a fun Christmas lesson!

- We wrapped a couple of Book of Mormons with Christmas wrapping paper and gifted them to people!

- We volunteered at a nursing home on Christmas Eve!

- We made brownies and took them to our neighbors.

- We invited like all of San Fernando to the Christmas church service. Sadly, none of our friends came to church on Christmas:(

- I had Spanish tutoring sessions from my comp during language study.

It is a little sad to not be at home with family on Christmas, but I know this is where the Lord wants me to be and the sacrifice is small in comparison to all He gave us. I hope yall had a great Christmas and keep the spirit of Christmas all year!

"When we keep the spirit of Christmas, we keep the spirit of Christ, because the Christmas spirit is the Christ spirit."

 Have a great week!

Feliz Navidad!

Hey yall!

This week I said goodbye to my friends in Artigas and moved to San Fernando! President knows me well because my new area is country, but also has the beach! It is so much different than Artigas, but I love it! It has been a hard week trying to adjust to a new area and companion, but I am excited to get to work here!

New area - San Fernando

A highlight from this week was I got McDonalds in the terminal in Montevideo! I have been wanting McDonalds since I left the CCM...hahaha!

I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas! I love the Christmas season because it is a time to focus on Christ! Without Christ's sacrifice for us, there would not be a Christmas! I love this quote,"The gift that makes the Christmas season sacred is His very life, which He gave that we might have everlasting life." I hope yall get time to reflect on Christ and the gift that He gave to all of us!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Noche Blanca

Hey yall!

This Saturday we had our "Noche Blanca" and Sophie got baptized! She was so happy and so was her mom! There were 8 total baptisms in our zone! It was such a cool experience to see so many people take this step and change their lives for the better.

We also had a zone conference in Montevideo this week, which means we got to take an 11 hour bus ride there and an 11 hour bus ride back! It was definitely worth it, the conference was so good! Our president talked about the importance of trying to develop the attributes of Christ. He also talked about how it only matters what Christ thinks of us. We are doing this work for Christ and nobody else! I am so thankful for our Savior and the example He set for us.

We also got transfer news and I am getting transferred to San Fernando which is outside of Montevideo! My companion is from Spain! I have loved my time in Artigas! The people and ward here are the best, but I am excited for this next transfer!

Have a great week!

December!!!

Hey yall!

Happy December!!! It does not feel like December here. It keeps getting hotter and the hotter it gets the more clothes the Uruguayans take off. Hahaha.

Uruguay played in the World Cup on Friday. While me and my companion were walking in the streets to get lunch, nobody was out and we could hear the game from the houses. As we were walking we all of the sudden heard "goooaaalll" and people celebrating. Uruguay scored, hahaha! Then, when we got to the house of our lunch, we watched the game for a minute and Uruguay scored again. It was so exciting! Sadly, Uruguay did not advance even though they won.

Our friend, Sophie, is getting baptized on Saturday! She is 12 years old. Her mom, Ana, is a member that recently started coming back to church. Sunday was a special day because Ana came to church with three of her kids. Ana bore her testimony about how she was so happy to have her kids at church with her and how she has seen blessings in her family as she has started coming back to church.

Also, I heard the song "Love Story" by Taylor Swift when we were in a store...highlight of my week!

I love the Christmas season because it is a season of love, kindness, and happiness. We can be a light to those in need this Christmas season if we let Him who is the light of the world be our focus. We can spread the joy of the true meaning of Christmas! The Light the World campaign started this week! Check out this link for ideas on how you can share your light!
