Hey yall!
I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas! Christmas is way different here, the big celebration is on Christmas Eve and is called Noche Buena. Our president gave us permission to stay out until 12:30 on Christmas Eve to celebrate! On Christmas Eve night we went to a member's house. At around 10:30pm we ate a huge dinner that consisted of all-you-can-eat meat. Then, at midnight we went outside and everyone was shooting off fireworks to start Christmas. Christmas day was a normal day in the mission, but we had a Christmas church service.
The rest of my week was good! Here are the highlights:
- We found a few families to teach! One of the families we were able to meet with 3 times this week and had a fun Christmas lesson!
- We wrapped a couple of Book of Mormons with Christmas
wrapping paper and gifted them to people!
- We volunteered at a nursing home on Christmas Eve!
- We made brownies and took them to our neighbors.
- We invited like all of San Fernando to the Christmas
church service. Sadly, none of our friends came to church on Christmas:(
- I had Spanish tutoring sessions from my comp during language study.
It is a little sad to not be at home with family on Christmas, but I know this is where the Lord wants me to be and the sacrifice is small in comparison to all He gave us. I hope yall had a great Christmas and keep the spirit of Christmas all year!
"When we keep the spirit of Christmas, we keep the spirit of Christ, because the Christmas spirit is the Christ spirit."
