Sandra!!!

Hey yall!

Sandra got baptized this week!!! The morning of the baptism we called her and she was so excited. She got to the church about 30 minutes before her baptism and was dressed in all white. She was so ready and the spirit was so strong during her baptism. It was such a cool experience. All of her favorite people helped out with the service: her best friends gave the prayers, the bishop gave a talk, and the stake president baptized her! After her baptism, she was glowing. I will never forget this day!

The rest of our week was not the best...most of our amigos we had do not have interest anymore or have not been responding, so we are kind of starting over. However, here are some miracles I have seen:

- While we were knocking doors, we knocked on the door of a man whose sister is a member. His name is Juan. He didn't seem to have too much interest but we shared a message with him. Then, a couple days later when we were doing street contacting, we talked to a man that was outside Juan's house. Juan came home while we were talking to the other man and we taught both of them a lesson. On Sunday, we had another lesson with Juan at his sister's house. It was so fun to see them share their beliefs.

- Sunday night we didn't have much time so we decided to knock doors. We only had time to knock on 2 doors because BOTH doors we knocked on let us share a message with them!

- This week my companion and I walked past a store that has cute clothes. All week we have been talking about going on pday, so we went today. While my companion was trying on some pants I started talking to the worker. After talking to her for a minute, I found out she had interest in our message. I am excited to get to know her more, she is so awesome!

This week has honestly been rough for me. Sometimes the mission is just hard, but I listened to the talk "Wrestling with Comparisons" and it is the best! We compare ourselves with others all of the time without even realizing, but our comparison should not be with others but with ourselves. It says, "we don’t discover humility by thinking less of ourselves; we discover humility by thinking less about ourselves." I love this, as I have tried to worry less about myself and more about others I have been able to feel true happiness. I know God loves us all equally and that love never changes!!!

Have a great week!

the week of cooking!

Hey yall!

This week has been full of cooking! Emperatriz and Justin's (the niños who just got baptized) mom invited us over to teach us how to make donuts! The sad part is I can't remember how to make them because she just put everything in without measuring. After we made the donuts we delivered them to members in our ward. The members in our ward are the best and they gave us food in return, so by the end of the day we were stuffed. Then, one day when we were knocking doors we met a catholic lady. We asked if we could share a video with her, she agreed but told us that she was born catholic and will die catholic. After watching the video we had a small discussion about God and then she invited us to come over the next day and teach us to make torta fritas! We went to her house the next morning, she was waiting for us and had everything ready. We had so much fun talking to her and we made so many torta fritas! So our finding this week was full of cooking!

On an exciting note, Sandra is getting baptized on SATURDAY!!! We are so excited for her, she is amazing! She has such a strong testimony of the gospel. She is so ready for baptism!

This week I read a talk called "Come What May and Love It" by Joseph Wirthlin. It says," If we approach adversities wisely, our hardest times can be times of greatest growth, which in turn can lead toward times of greatest happiness." The mission has definitely not been easy for me, but this reminded me that the times that are hardest are the times I have the most opportunity to grow. We can't always control the circumstances in our lives, but we can have the attitude of "come what may and love it." I know that we can find happiness in each day, if we look for it!

Have a great week!

Los niños

Hola Amigos!

This week the niños, Justin and Emperatriz, got baptized! It was such a special day. Our ward is the best and so many people came to support them. They were so happy and you could see the light of Christ shining in their faces.

Lunch with all the Hermanas in the zone

We had exchanges this week and it was so fun! We went to visit a contact from last week, but she wasnt home. Her son, Marcelo, answered so we talked to him. We were able to teach him a lesson and the spirit was so strong. Hermana LavuLavu asked him if he was willing to let God prevail in his life. Then, she asked if he would be baptized and he accepted. It was one of the coolest experiences of my mission. But the sad part is when we went back to visit Marcelo, his mom answered and gave us back his Book of Mormon and said he is not interested anymore. This was heartbreaking because he felt the spirit and knew our message was true. We have tried to text and call him, but we can't get in contact with him. Satan is working on him, but we are trying to have faith that he will decide to follow Christ.

This week I have been studying the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His life was so much harder than ours. He was betrayed, rejected, and crucified for us. He went through so much, so that we can experience joy in this life. If you are struggling, know Christ has felt what you are feeling.

Have an awesome week!

Brazil!!!

Hey yall!

I hope everyone has an amazing labor day and enjoyed college football this weekend! Not too much happened this week so I will just give the highlights and some pics:

-We went to Brazil today!!! We ate at an all-you-can-eat Brazilian Steakhouse and I ate so much steak. It was the best! Then, we did some grocery shopping because things are cheaper in Brazil.

-We found some people that were receptive to our message this week! So we are hoping to meet with them again this week.

-A member in our ward made us dulce de leche crepes twice this week! They had us over for lunch on Tuesday, I told them how much I loved the crepes. Then, the next day they made us more! They are the best!!

-We had zone conference this weekend! I was able to see some friends which was fun!

-We also had stake conference this week. We have some Brazilian wards in our stake, so half of it was in Portuguese. This made it even harder to understand. hahaha.

This week I had a meeting and learned the Lord will match our effort. If we give 100% to the Lord, the Lord will give 100% to us. When we are intentional, God will be intentional too. He is very aware of our efforts. All we have to do is build a foundation of trusting in the Lord first, and everything else will come.

God loves you! Have a great week!
